Since a child’s first years are a critical time for learning, we recommend starting your child’s music education as early as possible. Our youngest students (and their grownups!), can register for the internationally recognized early childhood music program, Music Together® at Soundscapes School of Music
In each weekly class, an expert teacher leads a group of parents/caregivers and their babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in 45 minutes of singing, dancing, and jamming. Children are free to move, explore, experiment, and respond in their unique ways, and grownups learn lots of musical ways to play with their little ones, in class and at home. You’ll bond with your child in a new way, and connect with other new parents from your neighborhood as you share silly dance move and lyric ideas and witness special moments of musical discovery.
Besides being loads of fun for everyone, our Music Together students acquire the foundational skills and disposition needed for success in music lessons: the ability to sing in tune, move in rhythm, and love music!
The Music Together program is rooted in research on how young children take in, process, and learn to express musical information, along with research in early childhood development. Since young children learn best through meaningful interactions with the grownups they love, all Music Together classes are designed to inspire the whole family to sing and play with music every day, starting the path to the cherished memories of a musical childhood. Active music-making also supports growth and development across many learning domains.
In each weekly class, a group of 6 to 12 families come together for 45 minutes of singing, creative movement, and instrument play. You’ll explore and experiment with rhythm sticks, egg shakers, resonator bells, gathering drums, and more. The mixed-age model means that
the whole family can take class together, and gives unique opportunities for social-emotional learning, creativity, and confidence building.
• Tuition includes a new Music Together songbook/audio recording each session.
• Sibling discounts are available.
• Siblings older than four and under 9 months may attend mixed-age classes at no
charge.
The Music Together song collections include a mix of original songs and traditional tunes from a range of musical styles, including folk, blues, jazz, and world music, in a variety of tonalities, and meters that support children’s music development. The sophisticated arrangements and catchy tunes mean that you just might find yourself singing them even when your kids aren't around!
Every semester you enroll in a Music Together class, you will receive an illustrated songbook that brings each song to life, along with a code for digital access to the recording and an optional CD, all so you can continue the musical fun at home. With twelve song collections rotated over three years, your family will build a robust, varied repertoire of beloved songs. Download the Music Together App and listen to some of our tunes.

My seven-year-old grandchild loves taking piano lessons with Soundscapes. She is just beginning year two of her studies and is clearly making great progress. It also doesn't hurt that she adores her teacher! Our family is excited to consider how well she will play in the months and years ahead!!
– Renee P.
My daughter joined Soundscapes on last month and she has shown improvement in vocal and in piano. The owner and instructors are amazing. They are honest and encouraging. I would recommend this school of music to others.

At 87, I am excited about taking piano lessons at Soundscape. Three lessons in and I'm doing what I hoped to do, playing hymns. My teacher is Alisha Taylor, and she's perfectly matched as she is the organist at a large Methodist church. Thanks, Dr. Johnson!
- Carolyn A.
My 7-year-old daughter recently expressed interest in taking music lessons. After some research I learned about Soundscapes Music School. Soundscapes has been the best for my daughter and us. Dr. Darius Johnson has an amazing team. Everything from touring, enrollment and beginning classes has been so easy. My daughter is starting with violin lessons but has already expressed interest in learning the piano as well. I enjoy that she has so many options in one place. The instructors do an amazing job of customizing lessons and also meeting students where they are. I also enjoy the growing community Dr. Johnson is creating, with gatherings for the students to connect. It has been an amazing experience and I’m looking forward to watching my daughters development in this amazing space.

Dr.Johnson is an amazing instructor. His love for teaching is obvious, & he has been so impressive. My son (12), who's been playing for almost 7 years, is a student of his. He's brought my son so far on his piano journey. I can't wait to see what the future holds as they continue.

I highly recommend Soundscapes School of Music to anyone looking to learn or enhance their musical skills. My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Dr. Johnson for over a year, and the progress she's made has been incredible. Dr. Johnson is not only talented but also patient and an exceptional teacher who knows how to engage and inspire. Recently, she expressed an interest in learning violin, and her instructor, Courtland, has been equally amazing. The joy on her face during lessons speaks volumes about the positive environment at Soundscapes. First two weeks have been great. Everything I’ve tried to teach myself has helped me understand what I’m taught quicker and I very much look forward to continuing my lessons to expand my knowledge.
- J. Rodriguez
My child has been a student of Dr. Johnson for over two years and I've witnessed how she's excelled in her knowledge of music theory and overall piano playing. Dr. Johnson is patient with the kids but encourages them to do their best and brings out the best in them. His facility and staff are top notch and very professional. Due to the intentional practices and skills Soundscapes School of Music provides, my daughter was awarded 1st place in the instrumental category for the National Jr. Beta competition! If you’re looking for a place to enroll in learning voice and music, this is the place to be. A+++
